In British Columbia, WorkSafeBC (the Workers’ Compensation Board) reports 18 deaths in confined spaces over a 15-year period. Before a worker is required or permitted to enter a confined space, the employer must prepare and implement a written confined space entry program. A confined space entry program for your workplace will describe what needs to be done before workers can safely enter and work in a confined space.

This package was developed to assist safety coordinators and employers in the field to meet their requirements for good record keeping by gathering vital information on each of the contractors and trades coming in to work on the project. Handing these out to each contractor will help you collect information such as:
Company names and contact information, sub-trades hired, persons responsible for safety, first aid, WHMIS, emergency response plans, and hazard assessment forms.

Description: 11.3 Fall protection plan

Employer's must have a written fall protection plan for a workplace if; (1) work is being done at a location where workers are not protected by permanent guardrails, and from which a fall of 7.5 m (25 ft) or more may occur, or If the use of a fall arrest system is not practicable, or will result in a hazard greater than if the system was not used. (2) The fall protection plan must be available at the workplace before work begins.

(a deadly lung disease) and may cause lung cancer.

Description: 4.14 Construction Safety Program (Site Specific)

Employers are required to have in place a means of communicating safety provisions and protocol on the jobsite for the protection of workers, visitors as well as the general public.
This document includes key elements that must be included and demonstrates how to set-up and provide this "Site Specific" information for your project.
While this is a Vancouver Bylaw, many employers are adopting this element all over the lowermainland as a necessary tool for due-diligence.
